Plot:
When a San Francisco exec wins a New Zealand inn, she ditches city life to remodel and flip the rustic property with help from a handsome contractor.
After having troubles with her boyfriend and at work, Gabriela (Christina Milian), assisted by the effect of alcohol, enters a competition to win an inn in New Zealand. When she discovers she is the winner of the prize, she rushes to the airport to embark on a new adventure: to renovate and put the building up for sale.
These are the premises with which Netflix presented one of its original creations in 2019.
Gabriela (Christina Milian) is the classic character of romantic comedies, who faces a growth path and discovers the true value of things, completely revolutionizing her life.
The comic scenes are created from the usual cliché of “city character in the countryside”, but to this is added the meeting with a nice little goat, who has decided to settle down in the inn.
Jake (Adam Demos) unites with Gabriela (Christina Milian) and decides to become her partner to help her renovate and sell the building. He is a very kind character and well liked by his fellow citizens, who are like a family to him. His physical prowess and ability to do any job make him a stereotypical character, but the originality is in his background.
I really enjoyed Adam Demos‘ acting, although I had a hard time understanding his heavy Australian accent.
The secondary characters are all really nice, everyone with their own story, and make the film a special place where the viewer likes to remain.
Overall, the story is pleasant, and creates a comfortable environment in which to retreat after a tiring day.
